Latest Windows 10 Insider build 15042 brings Windows Defender improvements

Windows 10 Insiders on the Fast ring gained access to build 15042 for PC yesterday. With this came some improvements to the all-new Windows Defender built for the Universal Windows Platform.

Two of the notable changes are:

  • New App & Browser control section
  • Home layout has been adjusted

In addition to this, Microsoft appears to be readying up to replace the current Windows Defender with the UWP version, with more links now loading the UWP version instead. One such example is the downloadable Windows Defender Hub, version 1.2.3.

Here are some screenshots of what the new Windows Defender looks like:

The new App & Browser control section is used to choose how SmartScreen affects files, Microsoft Edge and Windows Store apps, with each having an option to block, warn or disable it altogether.

Thanks to Jeremy for the tip!
