The official release date of Halo 5 was announced last night. The fifth chapter of the iconic series will be released on October 27, 2015. The release date was shared in two live action commercials during the season finale of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead.’

If you watched the season finale, you got a healthy dose of Microsoft advertising. One of their ads featured a Surface Pro 3 being used to devise an attack plan against walkers. Another featured a different post-apocalyptic world, that of Halo 5.

There were two almost identical live action ads featured during the hit shows’ final episode of the season. In both ads a solider is monologuing while walking towards a statue of the Halo series’ hero Master Chief. In each commercial a two handed weapon is exchanged for a hand gun while getting ready to eliminate their enemy. The only difference is that each adverts features two different protagonists as the hero.

The opposing characters are the well-known Master Chief and the news series face Jameson Locke. The fifth edition of the legendary (pun intended) first person shooter seems to pit the two against each other. The ads close with the hashtag #HuntTheTruth and include the line “the truth is never what it seems.”

The highly anticipated next chapter in the Halo series will most likely have more details, possibly including in game footage, revealed at E3 in June. For now we know the official release date and can get our countdowns ready.
