Globant, LaLiga, and Microsoft are partnering to create AI services for the sports industry. LaLiga and Microsoft have collaborated, who have teamed up in the past, with Globant to work on LaLiga Tech, which is LaLiga’s tech division that uses AI and data analytics to improve the sports industry.

LaLiga is Spain’s top professional football (soccer) league. It’s the same league where Inter Miami’s Messi used to play for FC Barcelona. The other notable teams competing in LaLiga are Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid, Villareal, etc.

The partnership aims to develop AI tools for coaching, fan engagement, and broadcasting. Starting with soccer, the focus will later expand to sports like basketball, rugby, and tennis. Microsoft’s Azure platform, including OpenAI GPT-4, will support LaLiga Tech.

The collaboration combines sports industry knowledge and IT expertise. Globant also collaborates with FIFA and the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers in utilizing technologies like AI and blockchain in sports.

The projects involve:

  1. Develop AI tools for coaching, fan engagement, and broadcasting to enhance the sports industry.
  2. Increase fan engagement through AI-generated content and real-time statistics.
  3. Improve accessibility with multilanguage subtitles for live events, benefiting fans with hearing impairments.
  4. Break language barriers via automatic sports content translation, expanding audience reach.
  5. Generate revenue by licensing LaLiga’s innovations to other sports entities.
  6. Combine IT expertise and sports insights for tailored solutions.
  7. Use AI to reshape sports coaching, experience, and sharing, potentially influencing other sectors.

LaLiga Tech, launched in 2021, aims to license its innovations to other sports entities like Liga Portugal and MotoGP.
