Microsoft released the new build for Windows 10 Preview yesterday and proudly reported that the new release has absolutely no known issues. Of course, that doesn’t mean the build is absolutely flawless: some users have already complained about a few problems caused on install.

Windows 10 Preview build 14376 reported issues

As usual, this build failed to install for some users. A few Insiders reported on Microsoft’s Community forums that they weren’t able to th build on their PCs.

“I click to install but after a short while get the message “can’t install some updates because other updates in progress” No obvious sign of any other updates (although a definition update appeared to work).”

Unfortunately, no one from the forums had a proper solution for this problem. If you encountered this problem as well, we recommend running the  WUReset script, but we can’t guarantee it will work.

Although we reported that Microsoft solved all Cortana problems in this build, one user actually said he still encounters certain issues with Windows 10’s virtual assistant.

“The Default Language for Canada is set as French (Canada) and Cortana is insisting on Speaking French and even if the English(Canada) speech packs are downloaded and installed and then selected…. Cortana still will not speak as she wants to download something. Not sure what. And it isn’t French (Canada)…. as that downloaded automatically despite the fact I don’t speak French and haven’t since High School… 45 years ago !! And I can’t get rid of it.”

Unfortunately, Microsoft Engineers weren’t so helpful, so we guess Microsoft needs to do a better job fixing reported Cortana issues in the next build.

Going forward, a few Insiders reported on the Forums that the new build disabled their internet connection.

“Lan/wi-fi/3G nothing works on my Dell Inspiron N7110. It connects but all the apps/services don’t have access to the internet.”

They also said that rolling back to the previous build solved the problem. If you don’t want to go back to the previous version, we recommend you check out our article about internet and WiFi problems in Windows 10. Once again, we can’t guarantee any of those solutions will work.

BSODs became frequent in latest Windows 10 Preview builds, and it looks like build 14376 is not an exception. One user complained on the forums that he experienced a BSOD right after he installed the new build.

“My Windows 10 Pro DP PC was very smoothy but after the upgrade to the new preview version the system doesn’t want to start anymore. I see the hour-glass circle under the windows logo for ca. 20 seconds and then the following error: PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA”

Just as was the case in the previous build, the Start Menu, Action Center and other user interface elements don’t work for some Insiders who installed this release. Here’s what one user said:

“After working on my Surface 3 last night, as of this morning, I cannot open the Start menu when I click on it or when I press the Windows key on my keyboard. Nothing happens when I right-click on the “window” button. The same is true trying to expand Notifications. I can right-click on the Notification Panel, but when I select Open Action Center, nothing comes up. Hitting the Arrow for the System Tray works as expected. Right-clicking on the TaskBar and selecting Settings gets me nothing. Nothing happens when I click on the Cortana icon. The two applications I have pinned to the tray open – Explorer and Chrome. Apps in the SysTray work (i.e. TeamViewer). Clicking on the WiFi icon does nothing. Right-clicking on it and selecting Open Network and Sharing Center works.”

And finally, we also managed to find a few reported problems for Windows 10 Mobile. That’s not much of a surprise, though, since Microsoft already revealed a few known issues for Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview. Here’s what bothered users in this release:

“I am facing a serious issue with my brand new Lumia 950 XL. I got it one week back and all worked. I joined Insider Preview as I did with all my other phone. The front facing camera does not work:

– No respone in photo mode, Screen stays black

– Iris recognition also doesn’t work, the sensor turns on the red light, but Screen is dark

-The error CodeI get is: 0xA00F4271(0xC00D3704)”
