The Better Business Bureau, who are responsible for receiving complaints from victims due to online scams, have published an infographic depicting the top ten online scams of last year. Identity theft rounded out the top ten while job hunting scams came out on top.
According to the Better Business Bureau, the infographic depicts inquiries and complaints. The infographic also depicts complaints after purchases. Interestingly enough, job hunter scams came out as the number one scam last year. Debt relief and settlement scams came out second, while work from home schemes rounded out the top three.
Rounding out the top ten is an all to common scam that many people fall for – Identity Theft. As the infographic says, “Hi this is a very legitimate business and we need to confirm some information today, is that ok?” No, of course not. The Better Business Bureau recommends that you research a business with them prior to signing any contracts or handing over any money.
