Indie Live Expo was created in 2020 in response to the many game event cancellations that occurred that year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The first Indie Live Expo was aired in June of that year, with Indie Live Expo II following in November. Two more Indie Live Expo events were steamed in 2021, again in June and November. The four events combined were viewed by more than 40 million people.
