Here’s the official description: Follow Faith, a daring free runner, as she fights for freedom in the city of Glass. What appears to be an elegant, high-tech city on the outside, has a terrible secret hidden within. Explore every corner from the highest beautifully lit rooftops to the dark and gritty tunnels below. The city is huge, free to roam and Faith in at the center of it all. Through the first-person perspective, combine her fluid movement and advanced combat with the city’s surroundings to master the environment and uncover the conspiracy. This is Mirror’s Edge for this generation, raising the bar for immersion in action-adventure games.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a first-person action title with a focus on parkour and movement instead of the weapon-based combat which is common in other games on the Xbox One console. The original Mirror’s Edge came out on Xbox 360 in 2008 and garnered praise for its unique visual style. It was released on Windows the following year and even spawned a mobile spin-off video game on iOS in 2010 which was ported to Windows Phone in 2012. The mobile game was significantly different than the main game though, using a side-scrolling game design instead of the first-person look of the original.
While the game is out now in the U.S., Xbox One owners in other regions can still order the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Pre-order Edition which comes with two bits of downloadable content (DLC), the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Speed Runner Kit and the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Combat Runner Kit. Both of these kits grant the player with special in-game items that offer a variety of visual options for when playing online.
