Windows Phone fans on Verizon have found it difficult to upgrade their smartphones to Windows 10 Mobile. We’re not talking about the Insider Preview here, but rather the official consumer version of the Microsoft operating system. Things do seem to be on the verge of changing, though, after Verizon decided to roll out the new operating system to the Lumia 735.

If you’re a Verizon customer, you’ll need to check for the update manually if automatic update is not turned on.We also recommend checking the Upgrade Advisor app available directly from the Windows Store.

The app is all about making sure your phone is capable of upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 Mobile. Furthermore, it can help users free up precious space on their device to make room for the new operating system.

Here’s the full description of the app:

The Windows 10 Mobile Upgrade Advisor app helps you find out if your Windows Phone 8.1 phone is eligible to install the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile. It can also help free up space on your phone so you’re ready to install the upgrade. When you open the app, it checks your phone and lets you know if it’s eligible to install the upgrade, if an update is required before you can install the upgrade, or if your phone can’t be upgraded. If your phone is eligible to install the upgrade, you may need to free up some space to get it. The app will recommend files, such as videos or photos, which you can temporarily move to OneDrive or an SD card, if you have one installed. Accept the recommendations, or change which files you want to move. You can even delete some files, if you want. If you move files to OneDrive, you need to use this app to restore files back to your phone after Windows 10 Mobile is installed.

For those who want to be on the cutting edge, bear in mind that Microsoft released the latest version of Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview. In other words, a dud: It doesn’t bring a lot of features to the table but what it does bring, fails to work.
