HERE Maps for Windows 8.1 now features manual positioning, new city pages, and much more

Hot off the presses is the brand new update to the HERE Maps app for Windows 8.1. This app is a fantastic mapping app and it just got even better. On top of the updates, the app is now available globally.

“Since we introduced HERE Maps for Windows 8.1 in February we’ve received some very positive reviews, but also tons of suggestions how to improve the app. We listened carefully and we’ve refined the app with many changes under the hood. And we’ve also introduced some new features that you asked for,”  Ian Delaney stated on the official HERE blog.

Even though the app will automatically detect your position, you can now manually change it. All you have to do is tap on the green dot indicating your position on the map or in its settings panel. You can even set your location manually by panning the map or by entering an address.

HERE Maps also features a redesigned city pages, which showcases all the good stuff located in your neighborhood or your destination. Information that is relevant is now brought to the foreground. You can even explore major cities across the world.

You can now change route options to avoid modes you don’t want, such as ferries or toll roads. In fact, you can now add up to eight waypoints to your route and rearrange them via drag-and-drop.

The app is now available globally, so hit the download link and snag it!
