From the Woodstock music festival or the day that Neil Armstrong first landed on the moon, there are many great moments in the history of humanity. Those in the tech industry, though, might be more familiar with April 4th, 1975, the date that Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft. Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the founding of tech giant we’ve all come to know and love, and as noted by Windows Central, we’re also joining the party and wishing our favorite company a very happy birthday!
Microsoft has come a long way since Bill Gates and Paul Allen first founded the company and set up operations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After the two initially partnered to sell the Altair BASIC interpreter for the MITS Altair 8800 personal computer, Microsoft saw much success in the in the 1980s with DOS and Windows. And, after a move to Bellevue, Washington in 1979, the company moved to its current headquarters in Redmond, Washington in 1986, and even went public on the Stock Market.
Of course, that is all just one small scratch at the history of Microsoft. From the launch of Microsoft Office, Windows, Surface, and Xbox, so much more has happened in the 40 plus year history of Microsoft, ultimately showing that Microsoft no doubt has left a mark on both our culture and in world history.
