Halo Wars 2 has a new launch trailer and it’s pretty epic
Halo Wars 2, the successor to the 2009 RTS game, will be the next Xbox Play Anywhere title to be released on the Xbox One and Windows 10 this month. As part of the game’s pre-release marketing campaign, developer 343 Industries has released an epic launch trailer today which should make you pretty excited about its worldwide release on February 21.
If you’re not familiar with the series, Halo Wars 2 is set in 2559, 28 years after the events of the previous opus. Xbox Wire Editor Mike Nelson shared more details today about the game’s backstory:
After experiencing a pyrrhic victory following the events of the first Halo Wars, Captain Cutter and the brave crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire wake up after 28 years of cryosleep to discover themselves orbiting a familiar Forerunner construct; Halo 3 fans, you know what it is. After receiving a distress signal and sending down some Spartans to investigate, the crew meets Atriox – an incredibly dangerous Brute who is as intelligent as he is strong. He poses a grave threat to humanity, and it’s up to you to stop him and his Banished.
As a reminder, the Xbox team will hold a special pre-launch event tomorrow at the Flagship Microsoft Store in NYC, and you should really join the party if you want to learn more about the gameplay and get the chance to win exclusive Halo Wars 2 prizes.Further reading: Halo Wars 2, Video Games, Xbox One, Xbox Play Anywhere
