Halo: The Master Chief Collection has had some trouble getting features working and cloud services being reliable. Nevertheless, this hasn’t stopped 343 Industries from pumping out more content to Halo fans. Today 343 has announced early adopters of the Master Chief Collection can download Halo 3: ODST campaign and content for free. This rounds out the Master Chief Collection to include all the released Halo titles. A new map has also been added to the MCC; Remnant is an asymmetric attack and defend map for Halo 2: Anniversary.
Halo 3: ODST downloadable content isn’t free for everyone who would like to download the content. Only those who have logged into the MCC between the dates of Nov. 11, 2014 and Dec. 19, 2014 will be able to access the content free of charge. Access to this free content will be granted via an email to the registered email of anyone who has signed in during that date range. Anyone interested in the ODST content but wasn’t an early adopter will be able to buy the content from the Xbox store for $4.99.
The new map which will be available for Halo 2: Anniversary gives gamers a new take on an old classic map from when Halo 2 originally launched. The map was originally known as Relic but has been renamed Remnant since being revamped for the MCC. The new map still includes the great one-sided map design but now has updated visuals and stunning backgrounds giving the map a new eerie feel. Game types in the attack and defend category play well on this map making it great for capture the flag, oddball or king of the hill.
While the initial release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection was very bumpy it would seem the game is continuing to get better and better by delivering the content Halo fans want. 343 didn’t just release the original ODST files but refined the game to run at 1080p and 60fps which should give Xbox One owners a reason to smile while destroying the Covenant. Go download the content now and play the ODST campaign bringing back old memories and making new ones.
