Google Docs For Android adds Word compatibility, lets you create and edit Docx files

Last week at its developer event, I/O, Google announced that it is bringing native support for Word files to its productivity suite Google Drive (or Google Docs). And the features have arrived on the Docs app already.

Bumping up the version number to 1.3.251.9, the editing interface has met a complete revamp. The chief inclusion is the ability of Docs to let you create and edit Microsoft Word’s .docx files.

If you’re looking for the Material Design, you won’t be disappointed. There is a new doc button at the bottom that floats, though if you want to see Material Design in full capacity, you will have to wait until fall.

Google Play store is yet to update the software, but you can grab the APK file (the installation file) from the download link below. Android Police assures us that the file is completely genuine.
