Google Cloud Print is Google’s cloud-based printing solution. It allows users to print to compatible printers remotely and across different devices.
In an email that has been sent to G Suite administrators, Google has announced that it is shutting down Google Cloud Print in 2021.
Cloud Print, Google’s cloud-based printing solution that has been in beta since 2010, will no longer be supported as of December 31, 2020. Beginning January 1, 2021, devices across all operating systems will no longer be able to print using Google Cloud Print. We recommend that over the next year, you identify an alternative solution and execute a migration strategy.
Ahead of the service coming to an end, Google recommends looking at migrating away from Google Cloud Print.
The preferred alternative is using the operating system’s native printing functions, such as on Windows. In recent years, Google has implemented native printing on Chromebooks to assist its own growing user base.
