If you’re still using a FitBit in lieu of a Microsoft Band, Windows 10 is taking care of you. The FitBit app for Windows 10 just got a pretty sizable update, bringing with it additions to goal celebration, some Continuum improvements, and even new branding. The new update is pretty significant, as it does quite a bit to make the app feel more polished and prepared for Windows 10 users. Here’s the Changelog:
Dashboard customization
– You can now customize which tiles show on your dashboard and arrange them to your preference (desktop only for the moment).
– There is a new button on the dashboard to enter Edit mode.
Goal Celebration
– New celebration when you hit all of you main activity goals.
Improved design to support wide range of Windows 10 devices
– Numerous screens have been rescaled to work better across the variety of Windows 10 devices. All devices from desktops to smaller phones should have a better experience.
– Information density has been increased in many areas.
– Modified Dashboard tile alignment and resizing logic.
FitStar Exercises
– FitStar exercises will now show in your exercise history.
Exercise Goals
– Refinements to the design of exercise goals.
New App Branding
– New splash screen, loading animations, updated Splash screen, loading animations, brand logos, live tiles, taskbar & app icon.
That’s a pretty hefty changelog, and it paints a picture of a much better FitBit app for Windows 10 users going forward. The introduction of goal celebration and the refinements to exercise goals should both assist FitBit users when it comes to achieving the milestones they’re aiming for. The improvements to screen sizing should help users across all Windows 10 devices use the app to its full potential, and allow Continuum users to work with the app without any awkward transition from mobile to desktop.
The app isn’t rated all that highly right now – it’s suffering a 3.1 star rating on the Windows Store, and its front page is full of one-star reviews that claim that the app was ruined by Windows 10. Hopefully, with this new suite of changes coming to patch up some of the Windows 10 issues, the opinion of some of these users will turn around.
