In a press release today, Gearbox Software, developers of Borderlands, has announced their next “first-person battle arena” game called Battleborn . The game is a mixture of first-person shooter and MOBA genre, similar to Dota 2, League of Legends, etc.
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford said, “If Borderlands 2 is a shooter-looter, Battleborn is a hero-shooter, as a genre-fused, hobby-grade, co-operative and competitive FPS exploding with eye-popping style and an imaginative universe, Battleborn is the most ambitious video game that Gearbox has ever created.”
The game will be published by company 2K games who also has the Borderlands franchise. Battleborn will be available during Take-Two Interactive’s (2K Games parent company) fiscal year 2014 for the Xbox One, PC, and the PlayStation 4.
“The size, scope, and ambition of Battleborn are unlike any other title in 2K’s history, and the result is a defining next-gen co-operative experience,” 2K Games president Christoph Hartmann said.
