The next season of the popular Fortnite video game, Chapter 2 Season 4, begins in just a few days on the 27th and, little by little, more and more information is beginning to be known about it via a combination of official announcements and leaks by those in the know.

Here’s a rundown of what we know and expect from the new season.

Confirmed Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 Info

The rumors of Thor’s appearance in the new season from last week have since been confirmed. An in-game digital comic book is now available to read on the Battle Pass tab with two new pages being added on a daily basis. In it, Thor (now with the Power Cosmic) has arrived on Fortnite’s Battle Royale island to warn everyone about the coming arrival of Galactus.

Interestingly, Thor quickly loses his memory after being on the island which could be a very clever in-world explanation for why characters from all these different backgrounds and franchises are acting out of character and fighting each other. More importantly, this causes Thor to drop his hammer, Mjolnir, which can now be found in-game just below Salty Springs.

It’s safe to assume that Thor will be a Battle Pass character this season though we don’t know just yet if Galactus will be.

Unconfirmed But Likely Season 4 Info

Some reliable Fortnite leakers with proven track records have tweeted that Groot, Storm, and Wolverine will also be made available during Season 4. It’s unclear if they’ll be part of the Battle Pass or available as separate purchases like all of the X-Force characters though.

A cover for a future issue of the current Thor comic book from Marvel Comics (which seems to be strongly tied to what’s happening in Fortnite) shows Storm, Ant-Man, Groot, Iron-Man, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man trying to lift Mjolnir. Given the recent status of Mjolnir in the game, Groot being confirmed by leakers, and this group of Marvel characters being the perfect number for a Battle Pass, it’s very safe to assume that these characters could be the unlockable characters in the Season 4 Battle Pass.

Other Fortnite Season 4 Rumors

There have also been some rumors by newer, less-proven leakers on Twitter that do seem plausible but should be treated with a healthy dose of scepticism. The two big ones involve the nature of Fortnite’s Battle Passes going forward and how Spider-Man may be unlocked in Season 4.

Essentially, it sounds like Chapter 2 Season 4 could be the first Fortnite season that actually has two Battle Passes. One will focus on Marvel characters while the other is purely for Fortnite characters. Each Battle Pass will be fully priced but the price of the second one will be halved if the player has already purchased the other one. Given the recent drop in V-Buck prices by Epic Games, the total price for both should only be slightly higher than the price of each previous Battle Pass.

What about Spider-Man? Well, this leaker claim that he’ll be unlocked as a reward for completing both Battle Passes. Remember, these two rumors haven’t been confirmed by the more reliable leakers so they may not be true. Personally, I don’t think they sound too crazy though.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 will be a rather important season regardless of how many of these rumors are true as it will be the first one that’s completely unplayable for players on Apple’s iOS devices.

As of the time of this writing, a judge has ruled that Fortnite will remain off of Apple’s App Store for the foreseeable future. Another hearing has been set for September 28th where a long-term solution to the conflict between Epic Games and Apple is expected to be made.

In the meantime, iOS Fortnite players can still continue playing on Microsoft’s family of Xbox One consoles, PCs, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Android smartphones and tablets. While Fortnite has been removed from the Google Play app store, the game can still be manually downloaded from the Epic Games website here or via the Samsung Galaxy app store.

Those who managed to meet the requirements in the recent #FreeFortnite competition will also be able to receive their Tart Tycoon Outfit skin later this week, likely when the Season 4 update rolls out.
