Fortnite’s special in-game fifth birthday celebration for its mega-popular Battle Royale mode begins in just a few hours on Windows PC, Xbox consoles, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and all other supported platforms.

The Fortnite video game officially launched its free-to-play Battle Royal game mode on September 26th 2017. After launch, the mode quickly became popular with existing players of its Save The World mode and was also a main driver for attracting new players to Fortnite as a whole. Now in 2022, Battle Royale is Fortnite’s main mode and continues to get updates several times a month while Save The World has finished receiving updates and now mostly gets maintenance patches.

To celebrate five years of trapping players in the Battle Royale island’s Loop, from tonight until September 27th, the Battle Bus will receive a birthday makeover, special birthday presents containing items will start appearing all over the island, and a number of special quests will go live for players to complete.

Completing said quests will unlock exclusive 5th Birthday items, the Fuzzfetti Cake Back Bling, Celebratory Slice Pickaxe, and the Sparklecake Emoticon.

In other Fortnite news, Chapter 3 Season 4: Paradise recently started and Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker is coming to the game soon.
