Five Downloads Worth Checking Out – July 27th

Ron

We put together five downloads worth checking out for this week. Who knows, it might be something you find yourself using more often. This week we share the latest beta build of Firefox 6, a Surface Migration Power Toy, Microsoft Camera Codec Pack, a free source code editor, and a program that intercepts and filters all web traffic.

Mozilla Firefox 6.0 Beta 3 – Mozilla has been pushing out new builds like hot cakes. Check out this beta build and see how you like it.

Microsoft Surface Migration Power Toy (Source) – Some Surface developers want to take the applications they created with the Surface 1.0 SDK and modify them so that they can also run on Windows Touch-enabled PCs. This source project and document explains the process of porting an application, and exposes a tool that will help you in the porting process.

Microsoft Camera Codec Pack – The Microsoft Camera Codec Pack enables the viewing of a variety of device-specific file formats in Window Live Photo Gallery, Windows Explorer, as well as other software that is based in Windows Imaging Codecs (WIC).

Notepad++ 5.9.3 – A free source code editor which supports several programming languages running under the MS Windows environment. We use this tool in our web development and web management.

BitDefender TrafficLight 1.5.0.201 Beta – This tool allows you to completely secure your web browsing experience. It intercepts, processes, and filters all web traffic, blocking any malicious content before it reaches your browser.

If you have anything negative or positive to say about any of these programs, let us know your feedback in the comments below!
