First new New Edge Insider Canary update adds favorites bar options, dark theme

The Canary channel for Microsoft’s Chromium-based Edge Insider browser received a noteworthy update yesterday. In the version 75.0.124.0 of the app, Microsoft added more granular settings for the favorites bar, with a new option for only displaying it on new tabs. You can find this new option by opening the settings menu and go to Favorites > Show Favorites bar.

Another interesting addition is a new dark mode which you can turn on both the Dev and Canary versions of the Edge Insider browser. The feature is available in edge://flags under “Microsoft Edge theme,” and turning it on will make all the UI go dark.

If you haven’t tried it yet, you can download the new Edge Insider on this page. The new web browser is officially only compatible with Windows 10 PCs, but it should work fine on older versions of Windows including Seven.
