Feed your megalomania in city building game 2020: My Country

Simulation games have long been popular, and the granddaddy of all of them has to be Sim City. For anyone who has never had the pleasure of playing the game, it enabled you to build, control and administer a city, taking care of everything from building sewers to ensuring there are emergency services available. 2020: My Country is a Windows 8 and Windows RT game that has been designed on much the same lines — and it’s available for free download right now!

This is not a completely new title; it is the sequel to My Country. As you’ve probably guessed from the name, this version is set slightly in the future and your job is to create a bustling metropolis populated with happy and successful citizens. Sounds simple enough, but there are plenty of things to trip you up along the way.

There are natural disasters like floods and earthquakes to contend with, but there’s an outside chance that you’ll have to cope with an alien invasion. But things start off in a far more basic way — throw up a few buildings here and there, ensure you have people to manage them and things will start to take off.

As you build up your city, start businesses and serve your population, you’ll find all manner of quests along the way to keep you on your toes. Strategy and simulation perfectly combined.

The game is available for both Windows 8 and Windows RT, so grab yourself a copy from the Windows Store. There is no Windows Phone version available just at the moment, but it’s likely there will be one in the not-too-distant future.
