This morning, Microsoft announced it was shutting down Fable Legends, the latest project in the Fable fantasy game series, and considering shutting down its development studios, Lionhead, as well.
A blog post on the official Fable Legends site offers up a bit more detail on the end of days for the game. The service for the closed beta “will cease to be available after 15:00 GMT on Wednesday 13 April 2016,” with gold purchases from the in-game bank to cease “with immediate effect.”
Any players who purchased Fable Legends gold will be given a full refund, with an email coming within the next week explaining how that will work.
No new players will be admitted into the game, so if you’ve been on a waiting list to get into the closed beta, you’re out of luck.
So if you’re in the closed beta, you have a few more weeks to enjoy it, knowing that you’re one of the few to have experienced Fable Legends. For everyone else, Fable Legends will remain as mythical as the world it sought to capture.
