EA’s response to a question on Reddit regarding Star Wars: Battlefront 2 player unlocks failed miserably. In a Battlefront 2 subreddit, the official EACommunityTeam response confirms that it takes 40 hours to unlock special Battlefront 2 characters, including Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Here is EA’s full reply on Reddit:

A few hours ago, Polygon reported that the Reddit reply received over 220,000 downvotes, making it the most downvoted post in Reddit history. At the time of this writing, EA has received more than 368,000 downvotes and the number is sure to keep climbing. Another Redditor created a list of the most downvoted posts ever, and EA’s reply post has almost as many downvotes as the entire list combined.

EA’s response and subsequent backlash came after a Battlefront 2 player figured out it would take 40 hours to gain the 60,000 credits needed to unlock a hero or villain in another Reddit post. To explain his calculations, the Redditor posted a spreadsheet showing how many credits you would receive if you complete all the challenges in Battlefront 2. The spreadsheet was created based off playing 21 matches in the Galactic Assault multiplayer mode.

Based on the extremely negative feedback on Reddit, maybe EA will rethink how credits are earned in Battlefront 2 before the game’s worldwide release on Friday, November 17.
