Given all the anticipation (about a decade’s worth) surrounding the release of Dead Island 2, there was little doubt that the game would be a surefire hit. This has proven true as the game has already sold over 1 million copies in its first three days of availability.

The team at Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver put out a press release announcing the impressive milestone, along with a few other stats including the following.

  • 11 million hours played
  • 28 million – total number of player deaths (over twice the population of Los Angeles)
  • 45 million – zombies sliced in half
  • 756 million – zombie limbs hacked off
  • 1.1 billion – total number of zombies slayed

Dead Island 2

Keep in mind that all this was just over the first weekend of the game’s release. Dead Island 2 is an over-the-top first-person action game with dark humor aplenty. The game has received decidedly positive reviews, and is available for most previous- and current-gen systems including Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
