Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that each day this week Cyberpunk 2077 has seen 1 million players. The team went on to thank everyone who had played.

This is the highest player count for the game since its launch nearly two years ago, when the game had over 1 million players on Steam alone. The current number is across all platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077’s player spike can be attributed to the animated Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners—which just launched back on September 13—as well as the Edgerunners update. The latter released earlier this month and included content inspired by the show.

According to SteamDB, cyberpunk 2077 had over 85,000 peak concurrent players yesterday. That is more than twice the 37,000 from last week.

Whether this is a just a flash in the pan or a sign of things to come for the open-world, sci-fi action roleplaying game is anyone’s guess at this point. But the game has been greatly improved since its shaky launch. And the new Netflix series along with the recent announcement of a forthcoming major expansion in “Phantom Liberty,” make this a great time to become a fan.
