It seems like the never-ending requests from India have reached Microsoft, as the country is among a few chosen places on Earth to receive the next version of Microsoft Cortana, reports The Times of India.

The update to Microsoft’s digital personal assistant will be coming as part of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update announced in Build 2016, which also brings several other improvement and new capabilities like the Windows Ink platform and tighter integration with Xbox. CEO Satya Nadella demonstrated the improvements to Cortana, which came to India first in November last year in the first major update to Windows 10, during Build 2016

Apart from India, twelve other countries are also selected for this rollout, including the US, the UK, China, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil. According to Microsoft group program manager for Cortana Marcus Ash, India, China and Japan, are among “the most important countries” for Microsoft. For this release, Cortana in India will be in English but they are thinking about expanding its focus to different regional languages and dialects, something India has plenty of, in the future.

Also during Build 2016, Microsoft introduced the ‘Cortana Intelligence Suite’, and the ‘Microsoft Cognitive Services’ APIs for natural communication processing, which should help make Cortana even more capable in the near future. The update will reportedly be coming to India and selected countries in the summer.
