Chuwi SurBook is about to achieve 2000% of its crowdsourcing goal; announces a gift for all backers

Chuwi, the popular Chinese OEM, has launched some pretty good and affordable Windows 10 laptops and 2-in-1 devices in last year and a half, but now it’s upping the ante and wants to take on Microsoft’s Surface Pro with the new SurBook – a name so obviously ‘inspired’ from Surface Book.

A global strategic partner for both Intel and Microsoft, Chuwi kicked off an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the SurBook last month – a goal of $30,000.

But looks like there has been tremendous interest in the affordable convertible. The company is close to raising $600,000 now – a whopping 2000% of the initial goal! At the time of writing, it had raised $598,568 by 1591 backers; that’s 1995% of $30,000, with 11 days left in the campaign.

To show their gratitude, once the company hits that milestone, Chuwi has announced that it will gift a tempered glass protector for the SurBook to all the backers.

The SurBook is an obvious Surface Pro clone, but the company has delivered some nice products at affordable price points in the past. So, I’d not really dismiss it as just a rip-off. I’m looking forward to try one out once it starts shipping by end of July.
