To celebrate the launch of Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One, Microsoft has released a special promotional music video featuring the song, “I Will Rise”, which was first heard briefly in the Rise of the Tomb Raider trailer last month. This music video plays the full version of the song against a combination of in-game gameplay footage, cut scenes, and several stylized silhouettes of game protagonist, Lara Croft, in a variety of dramatic poses. The song was written and performed by Karen O, the frontwoman for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2013 for “The Moon Song” from the film, “Her”.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of Microsoft’s major releases for 2015. A sequel to the recent reboot of the franchise that initially launched on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 consoles and later on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider will enjoy almost a year of Xbox 360 and Xbox One console exclusivity before it comes to Sony’s PlayStation 4 in late 2016. The game will also arrive on Steam and Windows 10 in early 2016.
Microsoft has been pushing Rise of the Tomb Raider with a variety of promotions such as an Xbox One Rise of the Tomb Raider bundle for the 2015 holiday season and a special collector’s edition which came with an exclusive Lara Croft statue, a steel case, a replica of Lara’s leather journal, and a special necklace that resembles an artifact from the first Tomb Raider game. There has also been the series of videos released by Microsoft focusing on the different aspects of the game such as the improved combat and the renewed focus on raiding tombs.
