Microsoft is streamlining the process of interoperability between its services and custom LLM and third-party experiences by adopting an open plugin system similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT version.

According to Microsoft during their BUILD 2023 keynote, users will now be able to make use of a single platform to build plugins for both commercial and consumer artificially led services aboard Bing, ChatGPT, Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, and more.

Furthermore, if and when developers decide to create custom AI-led apps with Microsoft’s new interoperable AI platform Azure OpenAI Service, the apps will automatically be compatible with this new plugin standard.

To get the ball rolling on its new Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft is expanding its support plugins for services such as Instacart, Kayak, Klarma, Redfin, and Zillow to be added to the Bing Chat ecosystem soon.
