Black Desert video game on Xbox One

The popular MMORPG video game, Black Desert, is set to get console crossplay between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles starting on March 4th.

The announcement was made in a very brief video on the official Black Desert YouTube channel which you can watch below.

Black Desert launched on Microsoft’s family of Xbox One consoles in March 2019, making this feature update a bit of an anniversary gift for loyal players. Crossplay between platforms is generally celebrated by gamers who prefer to play with friends on other platforms. Enabling players from PS4 and Xbox One to play together should also boost available players as well.

More and more video games have begun to embrace crossplay between consoles with Minecraft and Fortnite often being praised as leaders in the movement.

Sony has often been the holdout on supporting crossplay with Microsoft’s Xbox One and Nintendo’s Nintendo Switch and have even been said to be blocking crossplay with Rainbow Six Siege as recently as this week. Due to this, their support for Black Desert crossplay is a bit of a surprise but definitely a welcome one.
