Bing celebrates Valentine's Day with a lovely romantic... star horseshoe worm!

It’s the day that love is in the air — or so we’re told. Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world with flowers, chocolates and romantic exchanges. If you’re lucky, you will have received a card from the one you love (and they from you), and Bing is also getting in on the action. It is common practice for the site to feature an image that is pertinent to the day, and today is no exception. But don’t expect roses and cupids. Instead we have the star horseshoe worm!

It might be something of a tenuous link to Valentine’s Day, but the star horseshoe worm (or Pomatostegus stellatus to give it its official title) is a tube worm found in coral. This particular photography captures an example of the tropical invertebrate in a delightful heart shape. Whether or not you think it is romantic, it’s certainly a stunning image.

On the subject of romance, Bing did a little research and used its index to come up with the top ten cites where people are performing romantic searches:

  1. Atlanta, Georgia
  2. Washington DC
  3. Detroit, Michigan
  4. Dallas- Fort Worth, Texas
  5. Salt Lake City, Utah
  6. San Francisco, California
  7. Columbus, Ohio
  8. Los Angeles, California
  9. Seattle, Washington
  10. Indianapolis, Indiana

But if you’re less lucky in love, maybe it’s because you live in one of the five least romantic cities:

  1. Tampa Bay, Florida
  2. Austin, Texas
  3. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  4. Grand Rapids, Michigan
  5. St. Louis, Missouri
