Blackberry released their cross-platform messaging app BBM on Android and iOS, with the Windows Phone version nowhere to be found. Later at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Nokia dropped the good news that BBM will make its way to Windows Phone devices in the coming months, and will come pre-loaded with the Nokia X. During the company’s recent earnings call, Blackberry CEO John Chen mentioned BBM for Windows Phone is coming soon, and is expected to launch by second fiscal quarter.

Additionally, it was also revealed that it will come pre-loaded with the AOSP powered Nokia X, as well as various Nokia Lumia devices in select markets once the app hits the Windows Phone Store. At the quarterly call, the company also revealed some statistics, mentioning that BBM monthly active users have reached 85 million with over 100 million registered users and 500,000 active channels.

Have you tried BBM before? Do you think it can go one-on-one with the likes of WhatsApp and Viber?
