Battlefield 1 on Xbox One

Following months of teasing and a successful multiplayer beta test, it became clear early on that blockbuster shooter game Battlefield 1 could become one of the biggest game releases of this fall season. Indeed, the game was finally released worldwide on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Windows last Friday and it’s already the best-selling game in the UK physical retail chart, selling more units in its first week than combined sales of previous titles Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline (via Gamesindustry.biz).

According to the data from Gfk (which doesn’t include digital sales), the game has just beaten FIFA 17 from the UK’s top spot while Gears of War 4, the third-person shooter from Microsoft Studios which was released worldwide on October 11 still claims the fourth spot in the country. However, EA DICE’s Battlefield 1 will soon have to compete with two futuristic shooters that will be released in the coming days, Titanfall 2 (also published by EA) and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

If you’re not familiar with it, Battlefield 1 is the fifteenth installment in the Battlefield series and is set during World War 1. While the games seems to have a nicely crafted solo campaign, the main highlight of the game is obviously the addictive multiplayer battles involving up to 64 players at the same time.

If you have yet to buy it, Battlefield 1 is currently a $59.99 purchase on the Xbox Store (or $53.99 for EA Access subscribers). Let us know in the comments if you expect the game to continue to enjoy some well-deserved momentum in the next few weeks.
