Battery app and unofficial Google Maps app 'GMaps+' for Windows Phone 8 receive new updates

If you are a regular user of the Battery app, or the unofficial Google Maps app ‘GMaps+’, there are two updates waiting for you in the Windows Phone Store. Let’s explore and see what’s new in these updates.

GMaps+ is a fantastic app that has HERE Drive and Waze integration, offering offline and turn-by-turn voice-guided GPS navigation. The app also lets you explore what’s around you in 3D and use 3D compass mode to find and orient yourself on the map. You can also see real-time traffic conditions, road info and incident reports thanks to Waze integration. You can even tour cities in 360-degree panorama and see inside restaurants, museums and more.

You can also find local results with useful information such as ratings, price, distance, opening hours (with open now indicators), and discover the best spots in town with place photos and local reviews. The app also features voice search and voice commands, along with offline mapping.

GMaps+ is a free Google Maps app and was bumped up to version 8.7.0.4, however no change log was made available. The app update simply features bug fixes and performance improvements.

On the other hand, the Battery app has been bumped to version 2.6.0.0 and features a fix to the Live Tile that was causing issues on some devices, along with various other minor bug fixes and improved French/Czech translations.

“Battery is a nice and simple battery management app. It displays the current status of your battery, how much time you have before the phone turns off and other useful information,” the app description reads.
