The latest Xbox System Update has been released. This newest release sees the addition of a couple of nifty new features involving HDMI-CEC (a feature that controls how HDMI-connected devices communicate).
The first of these new features for the April update is Mute options in Settings, which does precisely what it states: it silences all sounds in the Xbox OS, such as notification sounds. It does not, however, apply to the Xbox startup sound. Users can enable this feature by going to Settings > Accessibility > Audio. From there, select either Mute navigation sounds, Mute notification sounds, or both.
The other addition is Switch input back to Xbox. This can be accessed through the following steps Settings > General > TV & display options > Device control > HDMI CEC > Switch TV input using controller. But what does it do? With it enabled users can switch input back to the Xbox console by simply pressing the Xbox Button on the controller. Quite a handy feature that negates the need to fumble with the remote when you need to switch inputs back from another device.
These monthly system updates are generally minor ones that see tweaks and improvements to the Xbox operating system.
