For those who fancy adblockers, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s coming soon for Microsoft Edge, according to a listing on the Adblock Plus website. Adblock Plus is a free extension that allows you to block advertisements on websites and is currently available for Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, and more — well except for Microsoft Edge. This will change once Microsoft Edge allows for the use of extensions, which will happen like with new Windows 10 Redstone builds.
Just recently, we learned that extensions for Microsoft Edge were near, according to a web page that was inadvertently revealed. Microsoft has since taken down the web page, but it shows that Edge extensions will be similar to Chrome extensions.
One thing to note about advertisements — these ads, although annoying at times, are the primary means of revenue for news sites like WinBeta. That’s how writers get paid for taking the time to bring you the news. Please keep that in mind when you elect to block ads. Sites you like should be whitelisted, at the very least.
