AccuWeather app for Windows Phone 8 receives big update, lots of under the hood improvements

For those of you who like to keep track of your local weather, you likely have the AccuWeather app on your Windows Phone 8 device. If not, this app is one of the best weather apps available today. In a new update, which bumps the version number to 2.4.0.0, we get quite a few under the hood improvements.

“Every day, more than one billion people around the world rely on the Superior Accuracy™ of AccuWeather to help them plan their lives, protect their businesses, and get more from their day. The AccuWeather for Windows Phone weather app has the very latest in weather news and information, including current, hourly, and extended forecasts plus severe weather alerts and radar maps. Our forecasts are also easily seen from your Windows Phone 8 lock screen!” the app description reads.

In this new update, the app has been completely rebuilt on top of the new AccuWeather API. The app also features the inclusion of the official Chinese Weather Data for 3,000 Chinese locations, with attribution to the Huafeng Weather Channel. There is also integration of the new Radar data sets for Canada, Japan, and Europe.

The update also brings along a new location search functionality with auto-complete, along with the addition of the AccuWeather Local Forecast Summary text (the five day outlook) to the daily forecast list view. You can also add unlimited locations, which is a big increase from the previous seven location limit.

The AccuWeather app is a great alternative to the Bing Weather app. Hit the download link below to snag the update!
