windows 10 new photos app

Windows 10 is still the most popular Windows version on the market, according to some recent statistics. The OS is still loved by many users, who don’t want to update to Windows 11 just yet.

However, earlier this year, Microsoft said that Windows 10’s current version is also its last, and the beloved OS will reach end-of-support in 2025.

But the news of it hasn’t done anything to improve the migration to Windows 11. And while the newer Windows version brings in AI capabilities and a stronger performance all around, Windows 10 holds the trophy of popularity, for now.

And it seems that Microsoft is releasing a lot of new apps on it too, including the new Photos app. Spotted by Windows enthusiast, @PhantomOfEarth, it seems that the Redmond-based tech giant has started to roll out the new Photos app in Windows 10 through Microsoft Store.

And according to the folks over at ghacks.net, Windows 10 might soon get another Windows 11 app, the Windows Backup app, which was released earlier this year in the Windows Insider Program. It’s indeed a good time for Windows 10 users.

How to download and install the new Photos App on Windows 10

  1. On your Windows 10 device, open your Microsoft Store and type in Microsoft Photos.
  2. Click on the Install or Get button, and let Microsoft Store install it for you.
  3. Once it’s installed, you can open it by simply clicking Open.windows 10 new photos app

The new Photos app on Windows 10 retains all of its features from the Windows 11 version. You’ll be able to easily store your pictures in categories, you’ll also be able to edit them, and so much more.

But more so, the new app comes with the Windows 11 design, which is a bit different, but it can also be your first Windows 11 taste. Might this be an approach from Microsoft to make you finally upgrade to Windows 11? Time will tell but for now, you should enjoy the new Photos app.
