The Your Phone app on Windows 10, used in conjunction with Your Phone Companion app on Android and iOS, is the only way to synchronize the photos and text messages from your smartphone on your Windows 10 PC. You can use the Your Phone app on Windows 10 to read and respond to text messages as well as view the photos on your phone, all without leaving your Windows 10 PC. The Your Phone app comes already installed with Windows 10 October 2018 Update and newer, so no need to download anything extra.
First you need to link your phone to your Windows 10 PC. Follow these steps on your Windows 10 PC to link your phone.
- Select Start button
- Select Settings (keyboard shortcut is Windows key + i)
- Select Phone
- Select Add a phone
Once you select Add a phone, you will be met with a welcome screen to get started setting up your phone. You will need to provide a phone number, so that Microsoft can send you a text message with a link to download the Your Phone Companion app and finish the phone-to-PC linking process.
The link is necessary for you to download the Your Phone Companion app on your Android or iOS phone. Unfortunately, iOS users can only send web pages to their Windows 10 PC using the Continue on PC app on iOS. Given Apple’s lack of customization, this should come as no surprise. If you run into issues using an Android phone, you may need to enable app notifications for the Your Phone Companion app to run properly.
