Save some money and pick up a refurbished Surface Book from Microsoft for $883

If you're looking to save some money on the purchase of a Surface Book, you might want to consider picking up a refurbished unit from the Microsoft Store. The company has put up a sale on refurbished first generation original Surface Books, with the base model now selling for $883 (via Neowin.)

As seen here, the sale brings the price of a refurbished entry line Intel Core i5 Surface Book with 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD down from $1,149 to $833, which is still considerably cheaper than the price of a new unit, which costs a whopping $1,499. The sale on refurbished units also cover the midrange and top line Surface Book too, and you can see those prices below.

  • Intel Core i5 Surface Book: 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / dGPU: $1,899 new, $1,489 refurbished, NOW $1,144
  • Intel Core i7Surface Book: 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / dGPU: $2,099 new, $1,789 refurbished, NOW $1,374
  • Intel Core i7: 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / dGPU: $2,699 new, $2,299 refurbished, NOW $1,766

There is not much difference between a Certified Refurbished unit and a standard Surface Book. They come with the one-year limited warranty and go through a rigorous refurbishment process prior to being offered for resale. Refurbished Surface products are clean and fully functional devices, and meet Microsoft's high-quality standards.
