From Twitter, Facebook, and even Instagram, there are many social media networks out in the wild world of the Internet. Luckily, for Windows 10 users, the Windows Store is a great place to find what is necessary to tame all of their social needs. What follows is a look at some great Windows 10 apps for social media butterflies.
InstaPic
Not so long ago there was a time when Instagram did not have an official first party app for Windows 10. Recently, the company finally released an app to the Windows Store, and while it is great, the experience still feels very limited. For instance, on some devices, the app will not let you upload photos from your Windows 10 HDD to the world of Instagram. Thankfully, there is the great third party option of InstaPic, which is more functional when compared to Instagram’s official app.
The InstaPic app gives you access to your Instagram stories, feeds, messages, and more. It’s a personal favorite of mine because it lets you upload photos saved to your Windows 10 hard drive, and also because it just looks more appealing on desktops. For example, the Instagram feed on InstaPic does not show up in the traditional vertical fashion, but rather in a more fluid and intuitive boxed layout, which allows you to see more of your friends’ posts at a quick glance. The app also allows you to manage multiple accounts just as if you were on a phone, complete with options for privacy, stories, comments, passwords, and more. While the app is free to download, a paid upgrade option is available which will remove ads.
One can not compile a list of Windows Store social media apps without mentioning Twitter. The Twitter app is another one of my most frequently used Windows 10 apps, and I consider it an essential social media tool for all Windows 10 users.
While some may argue that the Windows 10 Twitter app is not as fully featured as the Twitter app seen on other platforms, the company has frequently updated the app to bring it up to par over the last few months. The app provides timely toast notifications for when your tweets have been liked or retweeted, and gives you easy access to notifications for all of your messages. Like on other platforms, the current version of the Twitter app even has support for attaching gifs and emojis, and will let you run polls to your followers.
Of course, you can also use the app to send out your random thoughts, or to keep up to date with celebrities, athletes, and public figures. And, don’t forget to use it to follow us so you won’t miss out on all your Microsoft news and information!
Xbox App
Some folks out there might argue gaming can not be considered a part of social media, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty details, the Xbox app on Windows 10 attempts to blend what’s best from the worlds of gaming and social media. Microsoft has steadily updated the Xbox app on Windows 10, Android, and iOS, and this basic stock Windows 10 app is increasingly becoming ever so more social.
Using the Xbox app on Windows 10, you can bring together your friends, games, and accomplishments across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices. The app lets you join clubs, find games with like-minded players, and also gives you instant access to your chat, sharing, parties, Game DVR, and achievements across PC and Xbox One. You can even use the app to stream your favorite games and entertainment from Xbox One to a Windows 10 PC while using your Xbox One controller. And, for those who like to chat, the Xbox app can be used as a keyboard for chatting on Xbox Live with your friends.
When it comes to the content scene with social media, most folks these days tend to post or comment about the news. The Flipboard app on the Windows Store is perfect to blend both news and social media and has many great functions to help you make your news more personal.
Thanks to the Discover functionality of the app, you can customize your Flipboard with popular sources like The New York Times, PEOPLE magazine, Fast Company, and many other media outlets. You can also connect your social networks like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to Share what you are reading and enjoy updates from friends all in one place without the need for extra apps. For extra customization, you can also build magazines on any topic by using the use the + button.
These were my favorite social media apps which I think are great for social media butterflies. Which social media apps do you use on your Windows 10 device?
