With all of the hype regarding pre-orders for the Xbox One X console and finding the best deals online, I thought it would be a good idea to remind gamers of just how rewarding buying directly from Microsoft can be with the Microsoft Rewards program.
In addition to granting points for digital purchases in the Xbox and Windows Store, Microsoft Rewards also gives points for purchases in both the online Microsoft Store website and physical store locations as long as you’re logged in with the same Microsoft account when making the purchase (if buying in a physical store, simply quote your associated email to the staff member at check-out).
According to the official Microsoft Rewards FAQ page, shoppers are rewarded with 1 point for every $1 spent in the store on Level 1, 10 points for those on Level 2, and 20 points for those on Level 2 with an Xbox Live Gold subscription (may vary by region). So for a $500 Xbox One X console, that can earn 500, 5,000, or 10,000 points respectively.
Currently on Microsoft Rewards, a 12 Months Xbox Live Gold Membership can be redeemed for 29,000 points so this console purchase could get you just over one third of the way to reaching that goal. If you’re a Microsoft Rewards junkie (like me) this could be a pretty good incentive.
Another reason I’ll personally be using the Microsoft Store to buy my Xbox One X console is because in addition to earning Microsoft Rewards points, I’ll also be earning Qantas Points with this purchase. Currently the online store rewards Frequent Flyer members with 2 points per dollar (sometimes 3-5 points during a promotional campaign) and since console is over AU$600 here in Australia, that’s not a bad way to rack up some miles to redeem for a flight further down the road. I’ll also be using my credit card for this purchase which can get me even more Qantas Points.
Naturally, the Microsoft Store will have different deals with different airlines in different regions so it’s worth checking beforehand to see just how rewarding buying your Xbox One X console from there will be. Either way though, the Microsoft Rewards points are a guarantee.
