Amazon launches free Games with Prime program for Prime subscribers

Nearly four years after its Twitch acquisition, it seems that Amazon is taking its gaming business much more seriously this year. Yesterday, the company announced on the Twitch blog the launch of a Free Games with Prime program, which will give a collection of free games to Amazon Prime subscribers every month.

This month, Prime members will get five free games including Superhot and Oxenfree, and Amazon emphasized that the games will be free to keep “forever.” That’s a small difference with Microsoft’s Games with Gold program, as Xbox One Games with Gold titles can’t be played without an active subscription.

Amazon Prime is a $99 yearly subscription providing free same day delivery, unlimited photo storage and music streaming, access to Amazon Prime Video and many other benefits. With the addition of free PC games every month, Amazon is making the subscription even more interesting for regular Amazon users.
